Simulation devices

A sensor simulator is a device that mimics the signals of a sensor in order to test and analyse different scenarios. This technology is often used in automotive development, especially for simulating speed sensors.

Here are some of the main applications of a sensor simulator:

  • Development and testing of control units: Sensor simulators make it possible to test control units under various conditions without having to integrate them into a real vehicle system
  • Quality assurance: By simulating error situations, the behaviour of control units can be comprehensively analysed and checked for optimisation possibilities
  • Rapid prototyping test: During the development phase of control units, they can be tested with regard to their interaction pattern with other sensors.
  • Process simulation: Sensor simulators are also used to simulate processes and find measurement errors.
  • Checking complete measurement sections: They are also used to check complete measurement sections by simulating different sensor types
